ENTRY FEES: £10 per class. MDRA members only.

Class 1: Lead Rein/ Guided Challenge.

Complete Walk and Trot Dressage test A

Complete ‘bottom hole’ height jumps.

Complete ‘LeTrek’ style obstacles to test you and your pony.

All leaders and guiders must also wear hard hats.

 Class 2: Novice Challenge

Complete Prelim 1 Dressage Test

Complete 1”6 – 2”ft course of rustic and coloured jumps.

(Optional 2”3 Joker fence for bonus points)

Complete ‘LeTrek’ style obstacles to test you and your pony/horse.

 Class 3: Intermediate Challenge

Complete Prelim 13 Dressage Test

Complete 2”3 – 2”6ft course of rustic and coloured jumps.

(Optional 2”9ft Joker fence for bonus points)

Each section completed will accumulate points. The competitor with the highest number of points will win. Rosettes to 6th place and a £10 broadfeed voucher to the winner of each class.

 

 The aim of the challenge is simple. You must complete the four phases of the challenge, gain as many points as you can, and have fun of course! The person with the most points at the end will win.  Phase 1 – Dressage – Complete the Walk and Trot (lead rein), Prelim 1 (novice) or Prelim 13 (Intermediate).Phase 2 – Jumping – Complete the rustic and coloured jumps also including a bank, log, and water obstacle.Phase 3 – Complete these horsemanship/movement tasks.Phase 4 – Control of paces.Additional rules and guidance for the challenge.1.        Stewards will be positioned throughout the course. They are here to score you but also to offer help and guidance at any time and throughout the obstacles where necessary.2.        Each phase and many obstacles will be scored separately.  3.       None of the elements are compulsory, you can choose what you would like to attempt, and you will be awarded no points for this. 4.       You may well be awarded some points for an unsuccessful attempt at the obstacles. 5.       Standard hats, body protector and gloves MUST be worn at all times.6.       Hard hats must be worn by leaders.7.       Long sleeves are compulsory.8.       Showing attire is not required. Cross country attire may be more suitable.9.       Riders compete at their own risk.10.     There may well be no medical personnel on site. 11.      In case of bad weather, please ring the following number 01892 838531 on Saturday 17th September for a recorded message. Usual Rules and Conditions of Entry1. Stallions are NOT allowed on the showground.     2. Approved BSEN 1384 or PAS 015 securely fastened hard/crash hats must be worn at all times when mounted.  Approved body protectors are to be worn. Other than in the rings or in the warm up areas, NO CANTERING is allowed on the showground. Anyone seen riding in a manner likely to endanger any persons or animals will be ordered from the showground.3. All horses must carry with them passports & current up to date vaccinations against flu & tetanus.4. No horse/pony to be ridden more than once in each class. All horses must be 4 years & over.  MDRA reserve the right to ask for proof of age for any horse including veterans entrants.5. Disclaimer of liability: Neither the organisers, owners of the land, nor any person acting on their behalf, accept any responsibility for any loss, damage, injury or illness to horses, competitors, spectators or any person or property whatsoever while on the showground or while entering or leaving the showground. Each competitor shall be responsible for any loss, injury or damage that may be done to or occasioned by, or arising from any animal, article or property, exhibited or brought into the showground by him and shall indemnify and hold harmless the Matfield and District Riders’ Association, persons acting on their behalf and the owners of the land from and against all actions, suits, expenses and claims on account of or in respect of any such damage or injury which may be caused or occasioned. 6. Health and Safety: The organisers have taken reasonable precautions to ensure the health and safety of everyone present. For these measures to be effective, everyone must take all reasonable precautions to avoid and prevent accidents and must obey the instructions of the organisers and all officials and stewards.7. Dogs must be kept on a lead at all times and any mess must be cleaned up.8. The organisers will not permit any excessive use of spurs or whips or bad language, anybody reported doing so will be liable to disqualification and will be asked to leave the showground.9. Refunds can only be made on production of a Veterinary or Doctor's Certificate. 10.    Litter bins provided must be used or please take your litter home. Do not muck out boxes onto the showground. The field is used for grazing livestock.11.    In the event of cancellation, entry fees will be refunded, other than a deduction of £2 per competitor to cover costs, on receipt by the entries secretary of a stamped, self-addressed envelope.12.    The Judges decision in every case is FINAL.13.    All children under 16 years of age must be accompanied by a responsible adult.

SHOWGROUND DIRECTIONS-

.The gates will not be open until 9am. - From the B2160 (Hop Farm Country Park to Paddock Wood road) via Lucks Lane (opposite Paddock Wood Garden Centre), turn left at junction with Queen Street and Willow Lane is next road on right.   Showground will be found on right after approximately half mile. Some approach lanes are narrow. Please check route if travelling to the show ground for the first time.
