AGM- Goodbyes and Hello’s! The AGM in April was well attended and provided a good opportunity to catch up on all the local gossip.Main items discussed were the new ride opening in Cinderhill, having to cancel the Hunter Trial and the age old chestnut of trying to encourage new people to join the committee and bodies to help at events. It is a sad fact that most of the members we see re-join every year have been members since prehistoric times and we are all getting older! We are in real need of new, younger members, willing to take over from us wrinklies! The committee members that joined last year have been a real asset, full of new ideas and enthusiasm, just what we needed. We had to bid a fond farewell to Alison Barham, my partner in crime as co-chair for 5 years. Alison will be greatly missed. Her dedication to all things MDRA was phenomenal and her organizational abilities are second to none. Alison could pluck paperwork from decades ago, she had the ability to make everything run smoothly, whilst I run round in circles pulling the house apart trying to find a bit of paper that Alison would have neatly filed. Alison, we will all miss you and thank you for all your hard work and dedication to the club. We are all hoping to see you around at all the events and can we borrow Ross every now and again, especially when it comes to putting up the fencing for the show, you all know I cant to anything in a straight line! After a lot of bribing and arm twisting I have persuaded Di Miles to step into Alisons shoes. I know Di will rise to the challenge and she has had some really good ideas that we will be taking on board. So, watch the website for updates, and remember your fantastic committee are all working hard to ensure the club remains viable and you will have loads to fill up your horses social calendar! Good Riding, Ribs
